Making the Collection: Behind the Scenes of our Y2K Rewind Shoot

We have to pinch ourselves—our latest drop marks a major first for Blank Beauty. Our Y2K Collection wasn’t just a launch… it was a moment.

This was our very first shoot as a brand with models, and the energy on set was pure chaos in the best way. We packed it with references we love—think: old-school flip phones, glittery butterfly clips, fisheye lenses, and pink bedroom dreams. We even invited Katie, one of our super fans who’s made almost 100 (!) custom polish shades on our site, to model and co-art direct. She’s been filling in the Blank since the beginning, and she brought the sweetest energy to the set.

Every shade name in this collection comes from real memories. Each bottle is a tiny moodboard from our childhood—born from our team’s collective obsession with millennial nostalgia, from AIM away messages and sleepover snacks to first cell phones and after-school TV. If it sounds like your childhood bestie helped name these… she kind of did.

We worked with our favorite glam team in LA to bring the Y2K fantasy to life—recreating looks inspired by Hilary Duff, the Spice Girls, Lizzie McGuire, and everything we used to stick in our Caboodles. Photographer Brittany Bravo took our vision and ran with it, shooting everything with a fisheye lens to capture that warped, Bratz-doll feeling—like you’re peeking through a peephole into someone’s world of nails, lips, and stickers.

The best part? This is just the beginning. The Y2K Collection is our first fully fleshed-out creative direction drop—and we’re already dreaming up what’s next. Expect new collections every month (yes, really), and always for just $9.

✨ Curious about the shades? You can explore all of the new color stories and their names here on our collection page. Spoiler: they’re packed with glazed nostalgia and creamy pop-girl pigment.

What should we do next? A school supplies theme? A sleepover pack? Tell us what you want to see—we’re just getting started.
